Cubans Protest Human Rights Commission Resolution

More than 100,000 people demonstrated Friday in an open tribune in the southern city of Cienfuegos against the recent approval of an anti-Cuban resolution by the Human Rights Commission (HRC) in Geneva.

The protesters, headed by the first vice president of Cuba, Gen. Raul Castro, reiterated the "moral victory" won by the island in the Swiss city in face of the "Pyrrhic victory" of the U.S. accused in Havana of masterminding the project presented by the Czech Republic over supposed human rights violations in Cuba.

A dozen speakers representing political organizations repudiated the maneuver of the U.S. delegation to get the support for the document, which in the end was passed with 22 for, 20 against, 10 abstentions and one absent.

The demonstrators demanded the cease of the blockade which the United States had imposed on Cuba for over 40 years.

This sort of event usually takes place every Saturday in different localities of the island to protest against the hostile anti-Cuba policy of Washington.
