Chinese Olympic Champion Takes World Cup Air Pistol Title

Chinese Olympic champion Tao Luna led from the qualifying to take the women's 10m air rifle title in the ISSF World Cup Shooting tournament at Tom Lowe Shooting Grounds in Atlanta on Friday.

Tao, who scored 488.2 points to take the Olympic title, had her steady performance from the qualifying with the most of 389 points before shooting 101.0 in the final to take the gold medal in Atlanta.

However, her compatriots Ren Jie and Chen Ying only managed for their sixth and seventh places with 480.2 and 479.9 points respectively as both of them had modest performances in the qualifying.

The silver medal went to Susanne Meltz Meyerhoff of Denmark who accumulated 485.5 points, including 101.5 in the finals, and South Korean Kim Soo-Hyun got the brone medal with 485.0 points.

The men's 10m running target title was won by German Manfred Kurzer who had the most of 584 in the qualifying before shooting 99.7 in the final for a combined total of 683.7 points.

His compatriot Marko Schulze rounded up the silver medal with 680.1 points, before a trio of Chinese sharpshooters completing the next three spots, as Liu Zhiyuan scored 675.9 points for the bronze medal.

Yang Ling, Olympic champion in air rifle, only finished fourth with 675.9 points as he had an unsteady performance in the final, and compatriot Yang Xinfeng was placed fifth with 675.5 points.

The World Cup Shooting tournament will conclude on Saturday with the men's rapid fire pistol and rifle three-position finals.
