Maiden Flight Launched From Hangzhou to Macao

A white Boeing-737 airliner of Xiamen Airlines landed at Macao International Airport in drizzle Friday morning, setting up the first air corridor between Macao and Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province.

The Tourist Office and Civil Aviation Authority of Macao Special Administrative Region held a welcoming ceremony for the crew of the maiden flight at the airport.

The success of the maiden flight will kick off closer links between residents of the two places and enhance the cooperation in terms of trade, culture and aviation between Macao and Hangzhou, both tourist Meccas said Joao M. Costa Antunes, director of the tourist office.

The journey needs about two hours. There will be three flights every week.

Xiamen Airlines has opened the air routes from Macao to Fuzhou, Xiamen and Wuyishan in east China's Fujian Province since 1996.
