Chinese Companies Lag Behind in Network Economy: ScholarChen Jiagui, vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences urged Chinese companies to keep up with the development of network economy.Speaking at the International symposium on Network Economy and Economic Governance, which closed here Friday, Chen said that some Chinese companies still lagged behind in the development of a network economy. He noted that some traditional companies are still not aware of the impacts of the Internet and put themselves out of the network economy. A survey on China's 300 major companies, launched by the State Economic and Trade Commission, show that their investment in information technology and equipment accounted for only 0.3 percent of their total assets, far less than the figure of 10 percent in developed countries. The lack of information on companies also obstructed the development of E-Commerce, added Chen. A total of 15,000 companies in China now have their own websites, in which, 60 percent of the websites have only information of six months ago, and 90 percent have only introduced products. |
