Chinese Police Crash Online Casino

Local police recently uncovered an on-line gambling house and arrested all four organizers in Liaoyang, Liaoning Province, northeast China.

Such crimes have been rarely reported in China so far. Of the four suspects, one is a college graduate majoring in computer science and the three others with a middle school education.

In November last year, the four opened their own website and set up a gambling center in Liaoyang. This February, one of them was arrested by the police when he was trying to open a branch in Chifeng, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The police found that the online casino ran a lucrative business until it was uncovered. On March 15 alone, 145 people gambled at the gambling website with chips worth of 96,000 yuan. The casino earned 50,000 yuan in one day.

The police are looking further into the case.
