The Western China Economic and Trade Fair is scheduled to be held May 25-28 in Chengdu, this capital city of southwest China's Sichuan Province.
This will be the major trade fair held in Sichuan this year. The fair, jointly organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Sichuan Provincial Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, comprises exhibitions, commodity sales, investmenttalks and seminars.
More than 1,200 booths will be set up at the 30,000 sq m exhibition center, mainly featuring products in the fields of electronic information, foodstuffs, and clothing. Sichuan will offer 200 projects for overseas investors.
Up to 1,000 overseas companies have applied to attend the fair. The organizing committee will also invite some noted scholars and government officials to give seminars on the opportunity and challenge facing China in gaining entry into the World Trade Organization.
