Tianjin Port Opens Six New Container Shipping Routes

Tianjin, a port city in north China, has opened an additional six container shipping routes to North America, Singapore, South Korea and Bohai Sea-rim areas.

The move was made to ensure the port city to become a large port with a cargo volume of over 100 million tons this year.

Tianjin Port is an important hub for container shipping in north China with eight container docks and about 60 cargo container shipping routes.

The port is soon to upgrade another two docks for container loading and unloading and is expected to have an annual container throughput of 2 millions TEUs this year.

An official with the Tianjin Port said, a number of international shipping companies have made tours to his port make feasibility studies of opening of more container shipping routes to Tianjin in future.
