China, France Agree to Establish Cultural Centers

China and France signed a document Thursday on the establishment of cultural centers on the territory of each other's country.

The document was inked during the official visit Paris by Chinese Vice Premier Li Lanqing, who met French Minister of Foreign Affairs Hubert Vedrine before the signing ceremony.

Both Li and Vedrine touted the establishment of the cultural centers and the hosting of Chinese and French Culture Years in 2003 and 2004 as important steps facilitating bilateral cultural exchanges.

Li expressed satisfaction with the excellent momentum in Sino-French cultural exchanges and cooperation, noting that such exchanges and cooperation are indispensable and vital to enhancing the two countries' comprehensive partnership.

France is the last leg of Li's three-nation Eurasia tour which has taken him to Uzbekistan and Georgia.
