Four Killed in Chemical Plant Explosion in Jiangsu

Four people were killed and two others missing in an explosion that occurred in a chemical plant in Niutang Town, Wujin City, east China's Jiangsu Province, on April 18.

Eighty fire fighters dashed to the scene to rescue. Immediately after the explosion, leaders of the Changzhou City Government and the city police department also rushed to the explosion site to organize rescue efforts.

Fire fighters and policemen together put out the fire soon after their arrival to the scene. The soldiers searched for the victims in the ruins despite high temperatures and the awful smell. By 20 pm of April 19, four bodies were found and two workers were missing. The rescue work is still going on.

The cause of the explosion is under further investigation.
