Explosions Rock Palestinian Security Headquarters in Ramallah

Explosions occurred near the headquarters of Force 17, Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's personal guards, in the heart of the West Bank city of Ramallah Thursday afternoon, wounding at least three civilians.

Witnesses said several blasts went off one after another and tiles of the stone building had been blown off the roof onto cars below.

Palestinian security officials in Ramallah refused to comment about the blasts, but said on one was injured.

Other witnesses said that an Israeli helicopter fired rockets at a car next to the headquarters of elite Palestinian security force in Ramallah.

Still others said that the blasts took place inside a restaurant near the headquarters, which was built specially for members of Force 17.

Israeli security officials denied any involvement in the explosions, saying the incident was mostly likely an internal Palestinian matter.
