Macao International Dragon Boat Races to Be Held in June

The 2001 Macao International Dragon Boat Races will be held in June, the organizing committee said at a press conference Thursday.

A local dragon boat race will be held on June 17 in the names of men open, women open, male college students invitational and female college students invitational, while two competitions of international dragon boat races (men and women opens) are to be staged on June 25, China's traditional Dragon Boat Festival.

The races will be held on an artificial lake opposite to the Lisboa Casino, the most famous gambling house in Macao. The length of the races is 500 meters.

The number of athletes is expected to exceed 500.

The races are jointly organized by the Sports Development Board of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) and the China Macao Dragon Boat Association.
