The number of visitors to China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) increased 12.8 percent year on year to 2.45 million in the first quarter of this year, according to latest official statistics.

The tourists from Hong Kong made up more than 53.9 percent of the total, up 10.6 percent. Those from China's inland areas, Taiwan and Japan reached 26.6 percent, 13.2 percent and 1.6 percent, respectively, the Statistics and Census Services of the SAR government said.
