Chinese Communist Party Greets Vietnam's Party Congress
The Chinese Communist Party (CPC) Central Committee Thursday wished the just-opened 9th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) one of wisdom, unity and victory.
In a congratulatory message passed over to the CPV congress by Hu Jintao, Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese Vice-President, the CPC hopes to join hands with the CPV to open a brighter future for the relations between the two parties and the two countries in the new century.
The message said on the occasion of the opening of the CPV congress, the CPC Central Committee, on behalf of the CPC and the Chinese people, extended the warmest congratulations to the congress, and the dearest greetings to all CPV members and all Vietnamese people through the congress.
Citing the CPV, founded by Ho Chi Minh, as the organizer and leader of the Vietnamese revolutionary and construction cause, the message said under its leadership, the Vietnamese people have achieved national liberation and reunification after long-term and hard struggles, and have made admirable and notable achievements in the socialist construction and revolutionary cause.
Since the 8th National Congress, it said, the CPV has kept following Marxism, Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thoughts, adhered to the leadership of the Communist Party and the socialist path, and insists on all-round renovation.
The message noted that Vietnam has maintained stability, achieved fast economic growth and improved standards of living and status in the international community, displaying vigor and vitality of the socialist system.
The CPC is sincerely pleased to see the great achievements made by the Vietnamese people led by the CPV, and wish them fresh and even bigger achievements in the future, it said.
The 9th National Congress, convened at the beginning of the new century, is a congress of great historic significance, the message said.
"We firmly believe that the congress is certain to become a meeting of wisdom, unity and victory. The CPV will be able to do an even better job in leading the Vietnamese people to accomplish goals for the new century," it said.
Noting China and Vietnam are friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers, the message said that the two peoples have long-term traditional friendship.
Since the normalization of the relations between China and Vietnam, the message said, the relationship between the two parties and two states have gained quick and comprehensive recovery and further development, with the joint efforts of both sides.
It stated that people in both nations are glad to see this situation, adding that in the new century, the constant consolidation and development of the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two parties and two states are not only in the fundamental interest of the two parties and two peoples, but also conducive to maintaining and promoting the peace, stability and flourishing of the Asia-Pacific region and the world at large.
It is an unswayable principle for the CPC and the Chinese government to maintain and develop the friendliness between China and Vietnam, the message stressed.
At the turn of the century, it went on to say, the principle of long-term, stable, future-oriented, good-neighborly and all-round cooperative relations, set forth by general secretaries of the two parties, has provided a guideline for the healthy development of bilateral relationship.
Looking into the future, the message said, the CPC believes that friendly cooperative relationship between the two parties, based on the four principles of independence, complete equality, mutual respect and non-interference in each other's internal affairs, is certain to be further strengthened.
