A Hong Kong, China delegation will attend the 57th Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) to be held in Bangkok from April 19 to 25, according to a press release reaching Wednesday.
Being a subsidiary body of the United Nations, ESCAP conducts researches and surveys, and initiates measures to facilitate economic development of the Asia-Pacific region, mainly through collection, evaluation and dissemination of economic, technological and statistical information of the region.
Hong Kong, China is an associate member of the ESCAP and has been participating in its work, in particular in the Committee on Statistics, the Typhoon Committee and the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Development.
The theme of the 57th Session of ESCAP is "Balance development of urban and rural areas and regions within the countries of Asia and the Pacific".
