US Hegemonic Activity Condemned

Family members of Zhu Ying and Xu Xinghu, the Beijing-based Guangming Daily's two correspondents killed in the NATO missile attack on the Chinese Embassy in Yugoslavia on May 8, 1999, have condemned the incident in which a US surveillance aircraft broke into China's coastal air space after ramming into and destroying a Chinese jet fighter on duty.

The family members said that they will learn the patriotic and heroic spirit of Chinese pilot Wang Wei in the struggle to safeguard the country's sovereignty and national dignity.

Zhu Fulai, father of Zhu Ying said: "We were concerned about the safety of missing pilot Wang Wei, and hoped for a miracle."

The incident is obviously an encroachment upon Chinese sovereignty and airspace, which has served as a typical example of US's hegemony in educating the people, they said.

"China must make all effort to improve its national strength and protect the sovereignty and dignity, said Zhu.

Xu Linhua, sister of Xu Xinghu, said that Wang Wei and her brother were both killed because of US hegemony. People should learn from the patriotic spirit and heroic deeds of those who died and work hard for China's sovereignty and prosperity.
