Hu Jintao in Hanoi for 9th CPV National Congress

Chinese vice-president Hu Jintao flew into this capital city Wednesday noon to attend the 9th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) as guest of the CPV Central Committee.

Hu, also Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, arrived here by special plane, heading a CPC delegation for the congress that is scheduled to open Thursday morning.

Hu is very glad to lead a CPC delegation to this good- neighborly country of China, saying that he thanked the invitation by the CPV Central Committee and the warm reception he was granted at the airport.

During his five-day stay, Hu is scheduled to meet Vietnamese leaders, attend the opening ceremony of the CPV congress Thursday morning and deliver a speech.

The delegation was greeted at the airport by Nguyen Canh Dinh, member of the CPV Central Committee and president of the Vietnam- China Friendship Association, as well as Chinese ambassador to Vietnam Qi Jianguo, other embassy staffs, and representatives of Chinese firms and students studying in Vietnam.

Extending a warm welcome to Hu on behalf of the CPV Central Committee, Nguyen Canh Dinh said his party regards the high- ranking Chinese delegation's presence at the congress as a great encouragement and support for the Vietnamese party and people, and expressed heart-felt thanks for the CPC Central Committee.
