Tourism Enhanced at Northeast China Coastal City
Dalian, a coastal resort in northeast China's Liaoning Province, is making vigorous efforts to woo both domestic and international tourists.
The city, known for its clean environment, elegant architecture, and magic football club, last year raked in a tourism revenue of 9 billion yuan (about 1.1 billion US dollars), or 8 percent of the port city's gross domestic product (GDP).
According to local sources, the city has sent dozens of tourism promotion missions to southeast Asian countries and has established friendly cooperative ties with more than 20 overseas tourism organizations since 1999.
The city has invested heavily in improving transportation facilities, growing trees and grass, building new plazas and face-lifting scenic sites.
