Red Cross Heads of DPRK and ROK to Meet in Spain

Presidents of DPRK and ROK Red Cross will meet in Teruel, Spain, on May 9 to receive humanitarian awards from the Spanish Red Cross and to discuss measures to solve the issue of separated families.

A South Korean Red Cross official said the efforts of its president, Suh Young-hoon, and the northern chairman, Jang Jae-on, "in resolving the issue of separated families through reunions and mail exchanges were probably highly evaluated."

Mr. Suh said that in Spain he would propose having public hospitals and pharmaceutical companies in the South provide medical support to the North. Measures to solve the issue of separated families, at a standstill since the suspension of the fourth Red Cross meeting at the beginning of April, are also likely to be discussed.
