Pakistan FM Praises Pakistan-China Relations

Visiting Pakistan Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar Tuesday expressed "great satisfaction" with Pakistan's relations with China over the past 50 years.

In a Xinhua interview Tuesday Sattar said he looks forward to continued development of the two countries' friendship and cooperation in the future.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan.

Satter said, "We have established confidence and trust in each other in the past 50 years and our friendship has been of benefit to our two peoples."

"In the economic field, we have built strong relationship. Our trade last year reached 10 billion yuan, that is, more than 1 billion US dollars," said the minister, adding that many projects in the field of industry and infrastructure have been built in Pakistan with the assistance of China over the 50 years.

At the global level, China and Pakistan have also "worked very closely," he said.

"The Chinese people can be legitimately proud of what they have achieved since the revolution," he said.

"As friends of China, we feel gratified at the rapid rise of China in self-development and in stature all over the globe," he said.

"I congratulate the Chinese people on their achievements and I congratulate ourselves in Pakistan for having such a wonderful friend," he said.
