Therefore, Lee's planned visit can by no means be interpreted as a trip of "an ordinary citizen" and a matter of humanitarianism, he stressed. The Taiwan issue is related to the political foundations to the Sino-Japanese relationship, Chen said, adding that it will seriously hurt the feelings of the Chinese people if Lee was permitted to visit Japan.
