Two New Sections Added to Suzhou Industrial ParkConstruction has started recently on the second and third districts of the Suzhou Industrial Park.The largest cooperative project between China and Singapore, the Suzhou Industrial Park has absorbed 8 billion US dollars since being launched in 1994. The decision to enlarge the park came after both sides found the performance of the first district, about 8 sq km in size, highly satisfactory in the telecommunications, precise machining and bio-pharmaceutical industries. The development momentum was not at all affected when China became the controlling share holder at the beginning of this year. The second district will focus on hi-tech and the third on the processing industry. Upon completion, the entire park will provide 360,000 job opportunities. |
