China's CPPCC Leader Li Ruihuan Arrives in MauritiusLi Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), arrived in Port Louis Monday for a three-day official goodwill visit to Mauritius.In a written speech issued at the airport, Li said that his visit to this "shining pearl of the Indian Ocean" aims to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples and governments of China and Mauritius, and to push forward bilateral friendly cooperation in various areas. He said he expects to meet leaders of Mauritius during his stay here, and exchange views with them on bilateral relations and other international and regional issues of mutual concern. He said he also expects to meet new friends from all walks of life in the country. Although far away from each other, China and Mauritius have had sincere and fruitful cooperation over the past 29 years since they established full diplomatic relations, he said. Mauritius is the first leg of Li's four-nation tour, which also includes South Africa, Morocco and Turkey. Mauritian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Paul Raymond Berenger and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Cooperation Anil Kumarsingh Gayan as well as local Chinese residents greeted Li at the airport. |
