Incompetent Policemen Sacked in HainanSeventy-five incompetent policemen in south China's Hainan province were sacked, while 333 others were suspended from duty to be retrained as part of a nationwide overhaul of police forces.Out of the 75 policemen, 62 were found to be violating disciplines and were dealt with accordingly during a seven-month drive to rectify the police force, which began last September, according to a spokesman for the provincial Department of Public Security. The 333 suspended policemen are required to make tangible improvements in their work performance through the retraining, or face dismissal. The overhaul is part of nationwide efforts by the Chinese police to answer the outstanding complaints filed by the public, and improve their services. Other law-enforcement departments in China have also moved to improve their services and fight corruption in the past two years. |
