Anti-hypertension Eggs Developed in China

A new type of egg that can lower high blood pressure has recently been developed and passed national assessment in China.

The research was conducted under the leadership of Han Huipeng, vice principal of the Agricultural University of China.

The research team added a special additive agent into chicken feed, and managed to concentrate a kind of unsaturated fatty acid into the yolk with biological enrichment technology, which may reduce blood pressure as well as blood fat.

The eggs have also proved to be able to reduce cholesterol and triglyceride in blood, according to the results of experiments conducted by the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Capital Medical University.

So far, there have been no reports of similar kinds of eggs being developed either at home or overseas, experts said, adding that the eggs have great potential to be promoted.
