Li Peng Congratulates Thai Senate Speaker on Election

Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC), Sunday congratulated the election of Manoonkrit Roopkachorn as senate speaker of Thailand.

In a congratulatory letter, Li said that China and Thailand have been enjoying great progress in friendly exchanges and cooperation in various fields since the two countries established their diplomatic ties in 1975.

He said the friendly exchanges between the two parliaments of both countries have contributed to the bilateral relations.

He said he believed that Roopkachorn, as new senate speaker of Thailand, would further improve the relations between China and Thailand.
