FISU Supervision Committee Leaves Beijing


Universiade kindling Arrives at Beijing
The Supervision Committee of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), headed by the president George E. Killian, finished their inspection and left Beijing on Sunday.

The FISU Supervision Committee began its inspection for the preparatory work for the 2001 Beijing Universiade on this Thursday.

During the three-day inspection, the Committee visited three main venue, the Worker's Stadium, the National Olympic Center and the Capital Stadium, and the newly constructed Athletes Village.

The committee also listened to the report made by Beijing Universiade Organizing Committee.

In a meeting on Saturday night with Jia Qinglin, honorary president of the Organizing Committee and secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of CPC, Killian highly praised the preparation done and said: "This is the best ever Athletes Village in the history of Universiade. I hope to come to Beijing again in August. "

Jia showed his appreciation of Killian's praise and said Beijing will make the Universiade a big success. "Beijing will fully carry out the commitment made during the Universiade bid," said Jia.
