Venezuelan President Plans to Visit Russia in Second Half of 2001

n President Hugo Chavez may visit
Russia
in the second half of this year, sources from the Miraflores Palace, the headquarters of the presidency, said Saturday, April 14.
According to the sources, details of Chavez' visit will be discussed by Venezuelan Minister of Defense Jose Rangel who begins a week-long visit to Russia on Sunday.
Rangel will meet with his Russian counterpart Sergei Ivanov to prepare for Chavez's trip.
The two are also expected to discuss the issue of exchanging information on the military capabilities of their countries.
