Japan to Donate 2.6 Billion Yen to Aid Chinese ProgramsThe Japanese government will donate educational and medical equipment and medicine worth 2.624 billion yen (about 21.3 million US dollars), to carry out three programs in different parts of China.Long Yongtu, chief negotiator of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, and Japanese ambassador to China Koreshige Anami, signed an agreement in Beijing Friday for the implementation of the programs. For the first program, the Japanese government will provide medical apparatus worth 1.386 billion yen to a hospital in northwest China's Shaanxi Province. For the second program, 917 million yen worth of educational equipment will be donated to five schools in Liaoning, Hebei, Shandong and Yunnan provinces. The Japanese government will also provide medicine and medical appliances worth 321 million yen to control tuberculosis in mountainous and poor areas in central and western China. |
