Jiang Zemin's Visit to Brazil Achieves Great Success

The just-concluded visit by Chinese President Jiang Zemin to Brazil was a great success and contributed to strengthening friendship and cooperation between the peoples of the two countries, said Alfonso Celso de Ouro Preto, Brazil's ambassador to China on Thursday.

After saying farewell to the Chinese leader at Brasilia's air base, the ambassador told Xinhua that during the visit "there was an in-depth dialogue and great friendship between both presidents. "

The ambassador said that, after the dinner, President Fernando Henrique Cardoso invited President Jiang to have tea at his official residence, Palace of Alborada, "thing that hadn't been anticipated in the visit's program."

According to the diplomat, this was the first time that President Cardoso invited a state leader to have tea at his residence after the official dinner.

"This shows the level of friendship between both presidents is very favorable," stressed the ambassador, who returned from Beijing, China's capital, to accompany the visit.

"I am very happy and satisfied with the visit's results," the ambassador added.

President Jiang, who paid a state visit to Brazil in 1993, traveled for the second time to the South American country to indicate the great importance China attaches to strategic partnership between the two big nations.
