Police in Guiyang Crack Counterfeit Money Trafficking Case

Police here recently cracked a serious counterfeit money trafficking case, confiscating fake bank notes with a total face value of over 230,000 yuan and arresting 5 criminal suspects.

On April 10, police officers in Nanming District of Guiyang City, capital of southwest China¡¯s Guizhou Province, received a report that several persons from other counties would trade a large sum of counterfeit money near Sanqiao, a place in Guiyang. They immediately made arrangements around Sanqiao.

At about 1:00 p.m., five people -- four males and one female -- appeared outside the gate of Guiyang¡¯s Third Grinding Wheel Factory. When they were about to make a deal, police officers rushed forward and seized all of them, confiscating fake notes all with the face value of 100 yuan, totaling 233,000 yuan..

The five criminal suspects came from Qianxi, Dafang and Zhijin, districts in Guizhou Province. They bought the fake notes at a low price in the districts and brought the counterfeit money to Guiyang to sell.

The suspects have been detained for interrogation.
