Vice Chairman of Tibet Autonomous Region Meets US Guests

Losang Toinzhub, vice chairman of the People's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region, met here with a delegation headed by Barbara Harrison, chairperson of the US- China Friendship Association.

During the meeting, Losang briefed the guests on the development of the autonomous region.

The average life expectancy of its total population of 2.6 million has increased from 35 years in 1951 to 68 years at present, the illiteracy rate, however, has decreased from 95 percent before 1949 to 33 percent, Losang told the guests.

The delegation will stay in Tibet for four days.
