40 Percent of Tickets for Three Tenors Concert Booked

Over 40 percent of tickets for the concert featuring the three top tenors in the world -- Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras -- has been booked.

The concert, which has garnered an enthusiastic response from the Chinese audience, will be staged inside the Forbidden City in downtown Beijing on June 23, concert organizers announced in Beijing Wednesday.

Most of the already sold tickets are in the highest price range, from US$1,000 to US$1,600, said a committee official. Low-priced tickets are under US$60.

The organizing committee has opened 40 ticket sales outlets in Beijing. Meanwhile, concert fans at home and abroad can book tickets via phone or Internet, he said.

The concert is expected to draw an audience of 100,000.
