CPPCC Chairman Meets DPRK Guests

CPPCC Chairman Meets DPRK Guests
Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met Wednesday with a delegation from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The delegation, led by Zo Guy Il, chief of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland (DFRF), is here at the invitation of the CPPCC National Committee.

Li said China and DPRK are closely connected neighbors with deep friendship jointly initiated and fostered by leaders of the older generation of both countries. Such a friendship, cemented with blood, is deeply rooted in the hearts of the two peoples, he added.

It has been an unswerving policy of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese government to consistently reinforce and promote Sino-DPRK traditional relations, he noted, expressing the hope that the CPPCC and the DFRF would further close cooperation so as to contribute more to the overall progress of relations.

Zo said General Secretary Kim Jong Il of the Central Committee of the Worker's Party of Korea paid a visit to China at the beginning of the new century. This fully demonstrated that he attaches importance to relations with China.

The delegation members, through this current visit, have seen with their own eyes the great achievements scored by China in its socialist construction under the leadership of the CPC and are highly appreciative of this, he said.

Zo also affirmed that DPRK would further advance the unification cause independently and to strive to maintain peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
