HK Wins "Best Tourist and Convention Board" Award

The Hong Kong Tourism Board was named on Tuesday the Asia Pacific's Leading Tourism and Convention Board for the third running year in the 8th Annual World Travel Awards in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Hong Kong Tourism Board said.

The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate the enormous achievements to be found in all sectors of the global travel industry. The voting for the awards is cast by travel agents in more than 200 countries around the world.

"The award is a clear indication that we are building on an established track record for our progress approach to industry relationships and product training," said Tony Tse, the Hong Kong Tourism Board's General Manager of Marketing Communications.

Over the past few months, the Hong Kong Tourism Board has been recognized for a number of achievements at a variety of global travel and tourism industry events.

In February, the Hong Kong Tourism Board's Convention and Exhibition Bureau took two prizes at the 2001 Meeting and Incentive Travel Industry Awards in London.

Also in February, the organization's new video, Color of Life, scooped the Grand Prix Award at the 4th International Tourfilm Festival in Bratislava, Slovak, and a month later, won the Golden Compass Award for Best Tourism Advertising Film at ITB 2001 in Berlin.
