HK Movies Promotion to Be Staged at CannesHong Kong will stage a large- scale movies promotion at the 54th Cannes Film Festal, to expand the overseas market for Hong Kong films and promote Hong Kong as a rime location for making films, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council announced Tuesday.During this year's Cannes Film Festival, which will run from May 9 to 19, a total of 12 film production and distribution companies and service providers will be housed in the Hong Kong pavilion, the TDC said. The climax of the Cannes promotion will be a gala Hong Kong Night which will feature live performances and film clips to highlight the appeal of Hong Kong films. A number of superstars, including Chow Yun-fat, Michelle Yeoh and Andy Lau, and Hong Kong directors will attend the event. Other promotion activities will include the screening of 20 films from Hong Kong and participation in the International Village where the various strengths of Hong Kong as a film- shooting location will be highlighted. |
