Guangzhou Adds 500 Info-Based Companies Monthly
The number of companies engaged in the information industry such as information consulting and computer application service has soared in this capital of south China's Guangdong Province.
Of the newly-registered private companies in Guangzhou last year, there were 1,049 companies engaged in information consulting, up 78.7 percent from 1999, and 1,825 engaged in computer application service, up 165.4 percent.
In February of 2001, 248 private companies related to information consulting and 322 specializing in offering computer services were set up.
In 2000, 75 foreign-funded enterprises engaged in computer service were established with a total investment of 200 million US dollars, a 79 percent increase from 1999.
