US Diplomats Meet Spy Plane Crew for Fifth Time

With approval from the Chinese side, US diplomats met on Tuesday evening for the fifth time with the crew members of the U.S. spy plane that landed on China's Hainan Province without permission on April 1.

The US side has extended their gratitude to the Chinese side for the arrangement of the meeting.

The crew are in good health and in high spirits, Neal Sealock, defense attache with the US embassy in Beijing, told reporters after the meeting.

During the meeting, Sealock and other US diplomats talked with the 24 crew members for 40 minutes.

Sealock and other US diplomats met the crew on April 3, April 6, April 8 and April 9.

The US spy plane landed at Lingshui airport in Hainan Province without permission after colliding with and destroyed a Chinese jet fighter on April 1.

The Chinese side demands that the U.S. shoulder the responsibility for the incident and apologize to China.
