Bertelsmann AG Favors China's Online Book MarketEkkehard Rathgeber, General Manager of Shanghai Bertelsmann Culture Industry Co Ltd (SBCICL) expressed that they will speed up their paces of online book sales in China as B2B is booming in China.Ekkehard made the remarks in an interview at the International E-commerce Conference held in Beijing. He said Bertelsmann AG is one of the top three media groups in the world. SBCICL was set up in 1995 and has scored a great success so far. Bertelsmann AG is mainly engaged in book selling in China. A reader club network has been woven in Beijing, Tianjin, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou and Shanghai, which sells books published in China by way of payment on delivery and it has its own team for delivery in Shanghai. Ever studied in China, Ekkehard thought that selling books by readers' club is quite suitable to the Chinese culture and customs. Last year saw sales revenue of some 100 million yuan from among 1.5 million Bertelsmann club members in China. Founded in 1835, Bertelsmann AG, today, has more than 300 branches in 54 regions and countries worldwide with its businesses to cover books publishing, books music club, newspapers and magazine, TV stations, e-commerce, etc, of which the book sale accounts for a major part.
