Yunnan Expects to Attract More Overseas Investment

Southwest China's Yunnan Province will intensify efforts to attract more overseas funds, said Vice Governor Shao Qiwei.

At a recent meeting on overseas investment Shao expressed hope that more overseas investors would make investment in industries including horticulture, tourism, medicinal herbs, construction of infrastructure, and high technologies in the province.

According to Shao, his province has worked out a list of 30 projects for overseas investment this year. The projects involve eight industries and require a total investment of 5.7 billion US dollars.

The vice governor also stressed the importance of improving the awareness of an open economy among officials at all levels, improving the environment for overseas investment to attain this year's goal for attracting overseas investment.
