China's B2C E-Commerce Market to ExpandThe latest report released by the China E-Commerce Association and eTrustChina.com predicts a rosy future for the country's business to consumer (b2c) e-commerce market.The report, released at the 5th China International E-Commerce Summit, which closed here Sunday, predicts that China's b2c market scale will be US$190 million in 2001, and US$3.2 billion in 2004. In 2000, China registered a total business volume of US$62.9 million in the field. The report noted that 90 percent of Internet users in China are willing to buy on-line in the future, though they currently worry about the security of transactions. China now has more than 600 on-line shops, accounting for 60 percent of the total number of e-commerce websites. Most of these on-line shops serve consumers in large cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Hot commodities include information products, daily necessities, books and magazines, and audio and video products. |
