Philippines Retain Southeast Asian Basketball Title

The Philippines beat Thailand 90-73 to retain the Southeast Asia Basketball Association men's title in Manila on April 7.

Playing against a determined Thai squad mentored by a South Korean coach, the Filipinos fell behind only once at 1-3, the Malaya newspaper reported Sunday.

Earlier, Singapore stunned Indonesia 81-78 to clinch third place, while Malaysia placed fifth after beating Vietnam 73-59 in the seven-nation meet, which was also participated by Brunei.
