First Sino-US High School to Appear in Shanghai

The first Sino-US jointly run high school will be established in China's financial center Shanghai.

The school, named the Shanghai Jianping-Philadelphia Central United Senior High School, is a non-government run school jointly managed by the Shanghai Jianping High School, the Philadelphia Central High School of the United States, and an enterprise in north China's Shanxi Province.

The Shanghai Jianping High School, founded in 1944, is a key school in Shanghai, renowned for its active education philosophy and outstanding teaching achievements. The Philadelphia Central High School has a history of more than one century, and the Shanxi enterprise is the investor in the newly-founded school.

The school, covering 16.7 hectares of land, will provide compulsory courses in Chinese, mathematics, English, physics, chemistry, biology, history, geography, politics, and computer education, as well as elective courses like economics, and spare time radio stations.

Feng Hongen, principal of Jianping High School said that the new school will provide a perfectly combined education of individual development and profound basic knowledge to its students.
