New Zealanders of Chinese Origin Condemn US Hegemonist Act

The New Zealand Federation of Chinese Organizations issued a statement in Auckland Saturday strongly condemning the United States for its hegemonist act against the Chinese people.

The statement accused a US Navy spy plane of colliding last Sunday with a Chinese fighter jet while eavesdropping on China's territorial airspace above the South China Sea.

"The US must shoulder all responsibilities for this incident," it said.

It noted the act of the US authorities seriously violated China's sovereignty and harmed the feelings of the Chinese people and all overseas Chinese in the world.

"We express our great indignation at the US act," the statement said.

The New Zealand Federation of Chinese Organizations, the statement said, resolutely opposes all forms of hegemonism and supports the position and measures the Chinese government has taken toward the collision incident.

"Our Federation strongly demands the US government make an apology and explanation about the incident to the Chinese government and people," the statement said, adding: "We also demand the US government take feasible measures for preventing similar incidents from happening again."
