CPPCC Chairman Urges Concern for Chinese PaintingThe government should take the responsibility to help develop traditional Chinese painting, said Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), when touring a painting exhibition Friday.Li pointed out that it is important for governments at different levels to support the progress of this fine art, which is an indispensable part of the national legacy. China cultivated plentiful traditional painting masters with worldwide reputations in the last century, most of whom are now aged or have passed away, and therefore it is an urgent task to bring up talented young artists from the new generation, said Li. The painting exhibition, held at the Art Gallery of China, displays works by Li Baorui, a prolific and outstanding artist, who was born in 1941 in northeast China's Liaoning Province. |
