30th Anniversary of China-Cameroon Diplomatic Ties Marked in BeijingCameroonian Ambassador to China Eleih Elle Etian hosted a reception here Thursday evening to mark the 30th anniversary of the forging of diplomatic relations between Cameroon and China.Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan attended the reception, and he spoke highly of the bilateral ties over the past 30 yeas. Although both the international and domestic situations of the two countries have witnessed considerable changes, China and Cameroon have maintained and further consolidated their traditional friendship over the past three decades, Tang said, citing the fact that cooperation in the political, economic and trade fields has resulted in abundant fruits. He also deeply appreciated Cameroon's pursuit of the One-China principle, strong support for China's cause of reunification, and consistent assistance to China on the human rights issue. Tang said that the China-Africa Forum held in Beijing last October laid down a framework for future cooperation between China and African countries, including Cameroon. He expressed the belief that bilateral relations would advance further in the new century. Ambassador Etian also expressed satisfaction with the bilateral ties over the past 30 years, stressing that there is still great cooperative potential to be further exploited.
