Through industrial adjustment, the private sector has shifted from scattered, small-sized and extensive industrial areas to technology-extensive and export-oriented agriculture, the manufacturing sector and the service sector. Compared to 1997, the ratio of individually-owned firms and private companies to the primary service sector has dropped two to three percentage points, and that of such firms and companies to farming and industrial sectors rose considerably. Private research-related enterprises have reported rapid development, thereby speeding up the application of research findings to production. |
