E. China Province Leads Country in Farm Goods Exports

In 2000, Shandong Province, east China, exported agricultural products worth 2.79 billion US dollars, up 28 percent year-on-year, to become the largest farm goods exporter in the country.

Last year, Shandong's exports of agricultural goods accounted for 17.9 percent of the country's total, according to local customs officials in Qingdao City.

The main farm goods exported by the province included sea food, vegetables, peanuts and frozen chickens, which each made up 30 percent or more of the national exports of these products.

Japan, EU nations, the Republic of Korea, the United States, and ASEAN members are the largest buyers of farm goods from Shandong.
