Israel Arrests Palestinian Intelligence Official

Israel has arrested a Palestinian intelligence service official in the West Bank city of Nablus, the Arabic language daily " Al-Quds" reported Wednesday.

Lieutenant Colonel Yazed Mohammad Khudair of Palestinian intelligence service in Nablus was arrested by Israeli officers at Karama Bridge Tuesday on his way back to Palestinian territories from Jordan, the daily quoted Palestinian sources as saying.

Israeli officers surprised the colonel at the bridge and informed him that he was wanted by Israeli authorities and under arrest.

Khudair had been in Jordan for medical treatment, the sources added.

Palestinians believe that the arrest is part of a series of Israeli operations aimed at liquidating Palestinian leaders and leading members of the Palestinian National Authority.
