India To Continue Building Defensive Structures in KashmirIndia Tuesday rejected Pakistan's call to stop construction of defensive structures along the international border in Kashmir. In a statement issued here, the spokesman of the External Affairs Ministry termed as "false and baseless" Islamabad's allegation that Indian forces in Kashmir opened unprovoked firing on Pakistan's territory recently. "Our security forces are acting with great responsibility and displaying exemplary restraint," he said. Pakistani Foreign Ministry issued statements last Thursday and Friday, asking India to stop all actions and take steps immediately to erect a fence along the "working boundary" in the disputed Kashmir. The spokesman rejected the use of the term "working boundary" by Pakistan, saying that it could not be applied to any part of the border between the two neighbors. "The construction of defensive structures along the international boundary in Jammu and Kashmir and in other sectors is undertaken by our security forces from time to time," the spokesman said. In this context, he added, Pakistan's infiltration of militants into Kashmir had to be taken into account and "our forces will continue to construct such defensive structures as are need".
