ESCAP Predicts 7.8 Percent GDP Growth for China in 2001China remains one of the fastest- growing economies both in the Asia-Pacific region and the world as a whole, with a GDP growth rate of 7.8 percent predicted for the year 2001, according to the Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific 2001 published Tuesday.Meanwhile, China will continue to maintain its price stability, says the survey, conducted by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). China remains the largest recipient of foreign direct investment among the developing countries, and China's expected entry into the World Trade Organization and the improvement of its securities market will facilitate capital flow into China, the survey said. |
